  A talk by Dr Naveed on "Challenged Heterogeneous Networks and new Challenges"

In the past few years, a number of emerging applications such as environmental or habitat monitoring, emergency response, vehicular communication, to name a few, have motivated the emergence of new networks. On the other hand, Today’s Internet is also characterized by heterogeneity, both at node– (e.g., smart phones, PDAs) and network level (e.g., wired/wireless infrastructure-based and ad-hoc networks, cellular-based networks). These heterogeneous networks are also able to cope with connectivity disruptions that may be resulted due to nodes mobility. Moreover, the new characteristics of these networks bring new challenges including networks interconnection, seamless message delivery and nodes identification. In this talk, I will talk about this new dimension of heterogeneous networks, which are also called as challenged networks. I will also explain my research contributions towards solving some of the challenges that are highlighted in the beginning of the presentation.


Short Bibliography of Mr. Rao Naveed Bin Rais.

He has received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from INRIA/University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, France. Prior to his Ph.D., he has done his M.S. degree from University of Nice/ENST, France in Networks and Distributed Systems, and B.E. degree in Computer Engineering from National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan. His Ph.D. research was jointly collaborated by INRIA, France and University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC), USA.. After his B.E. degree, Dr. Naveed also has a professional work experience of 4 years at Communications Enabling Technologies, Pakistan and CARE Pvt. Ltd. Pakistan.
